Toward a Global Rare Earth Industry Association

Toward a Global Rare Earth Industry Association (GloREIA)

Toward a Global Rare Earth Industry Association (GloREIA) will develop an EU-based platform of international experts and stakeholders that will prepare and launch an International Association for Rare Earth Industries (REIA).

The REIA association will also a constitute an international society for rare earths (ISRE), which specializes in bringing state-of-the-art research to REE industry to increase its competitiveness and internationalization.

GloREIA contributes to novel, circular business models across REE value chains. GloREIA will also set up and manage a database of life cycle inventories with and for industry members and scientists in the REE field.

GloREIA is original because it will be the first consortium to merge the results of REE research with wider society. It is made up of an inter-sectoral and interdisciplinary consortium of leading EU universities, research institutes and manufacturers from the sector make up this project consortium. The project challenges include the development of a strong REE network that includes China, providing a space for research activities to be launched in industry, and strengthening the capacity to influence REE supply on a global scale.

MISSION: Gather, Create and Share information in a referential physical center based in Europe for global REE related activities.

REIA is an ASBL (nonprofit organization) aiming at embracing and spreading circular economy (CE) synergies found in the REE chain.
The management board is comprised of industry partners and academic researchers, alike.

This activity has received funding from the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of the European Union, under the Horizon 2020, the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation
